At Scandinavian Sagas Publishing House, we craft books that echo the stillness of northern forests and the depth of ancient fjords.Rooted in Scandinavian history and tradition, yet speaking to universal themes, our work honors the art of storytelling as both heritage and horizon. We invite you to turn the page and enter our world.Manuscripts are welcome.

At Scandinavian Sagas Publishing House, our work centres on publishing literary books rooted in the history, traditions, and landscapes of Scandinavia and the British Isles.
Each title reflects our belief in storytelling as both heritage and art — narratives shaped by the North, yet resonant far beyond it.We are currently launching an ambitious eight-part historical fiction series, The Blood and the Crown, which dramatises the pivotal events that forged the Nordic world. Blending rigorous historical research with immersive narrative craft, the series brings to life the power struggles, betrayals, and transformations that defined a region. Our debut release, The Stones of Gorm, begins with the earliest unifications of Denmark and moves through centuries of political ambition, faith, and war. It is the first instalment in a series that will stretch from the pagan runestones of Jelling to the fall of the North Sea Empire. In addition to the series, we are publishing two antologies in both English and Danish regarding the Danes who were English kings.Furthermore projects is underway: A historical novel set at the Abbey of Iona in the year 806, when faith, politics, and Viking raids collided in a single dramatic season. A novel regarding Icelandic Norse conflicts and one regarding the history of the Outer Hebrides.Alongside our publishing work, we also curate cultural events. Most notably, we are behind the upcoming Faaborg International History Festival (2026) — a gathering of historians, writers, and audiences where the past is not just studied but lived. These initiatives reflect our belief that storytelling belongs not only in books but in shared spaces.
Scandinavian Sagas Publishing House is led by Janus T. Saito-Madsen, alongside two fellow scholars — Olafur Olafsson, an Icelandic historian, and Paul Smith, a Scottish museologist — united by a shared passion for bringing the North’s untold stories to life.
With backgrounds in academic research, ghostwriting for bestselling authors, and screenwriting for film, we combine scholarly depth with narrative craft. At Scandinavian Sagas Publishing House, our mission is simple: to bring the past to life in a way that is approachable, vivid, and compelling. We believe history should never feel locked in archives or hidden behind academic walls — it should inspire curiosity, spark imagination, and invite readers to explore further on their own.Our work centres on publishing literary books rooted in the history, traditions, and landscapes of Scandinavia. By blending rigorous research with powerful storytelling, we aim to create narratives that are both faithful to the past and alive for today’s readers. What sets us apart is the combination of rigorous historical research with immersive, dramatic storytelling. Our work extends beyond the printed page to events and festivals, including the Faaborg International History Festival 2026, where scholars, authors, and audiences will come together to explore history as a living force. We are not just chroniclers of the past — we are storytellers reclaiming it.
